Les Trucs (Frankfurt) + Babelfishh & The Ohlsons (Berlin/Mainz) + James Reindeer & James PHoney (London / UK)

LES TRUCS like to construct things and collect stuff. Both of them just bought some analo synths/drum- computer/strangemicrophone-stuff. They already tried out a few electronic songs in their own livingrooms. To concquer the distance between the two livingrooms les trucs finish eight songs by sending tracks via internet and after a few days in the rehearsal room, the idea of "les trucs" is realized. four bags of instruments and many cables, pressuring weird beats, noise contra catchy melodies and screaming out the boredom of tramways and plastic flowers by male and female voices is the conclusion. You may slightly be reminded of the voice and lyrics from „antitainment“ which is tobi s old bandproject, or "latah movement" where charlotte (scarlet scamper) plays the synth, too. The next time, you might see see les trucs with some video projections of an audience clapping their hands accompained by a choreography of ten dancers with midi guitars. Maybe they ll quit in two weeks. who knows.

BABELFISHH & THE OHLSONS: BABEL FISHH sieht sich selbst nicht als Mittelpunkt seines künstlerischen Schaffens, sondern stellt den Hörer in das Zentrum seiner Klangwelten und fungiert als Sprachrohr zwischen Publikum und surrealen Textlandschaften. Mit gekonnten Flows schleudert er seine Raps über metallische Elektrobeats. Trotz düsterer Grundstimmung schafft er es humorvoll das Genre Storytelling im Alternative-Rap zu etablieren. „Out of the hat hip hop-ish smog for all you good folks.”

OSKAR OHLSON ist in etwa in die Sparte „Experimental Hip Hop“ einzuordnen und produzierte in der Vergangenheit u.a. für Audio88 & Yassin, Babel Fishh, Beastmaster, James P.Honey, Reindeer, Cocon, Bleubird, Filkoe, Bizzart, Papervehicle, Univac und Les Trucs. 2008 veröffentlichte der Mainzer das Mini-Album „Honk, Bang, Whiste And Crash“, das darauf folgende Jahr erschien der Nachfolger „Handful of Crumbs“ und das Kollabo-Album „Pinky Swear“ mit Babel Fishh. Produktionskosten für seine Releases zahlt der Beatschrauber und Schlagzeuger aus eigener Tasche, als Plattform für seine Veröffentlichungen fungiert auch hier das 2007 gegründete Künstlerkollektiv Knertz.

JAMES REINDEER & JAMES PHONEY: contrary to popular belief, jamesphoney & jamesreindeer are not built from craft paper and string. they had been carving out their individual paths through the alt-rap scene from different sides of the capital of their fair isle before joining forces towards the end of 2007. jamesphoney with his cheeky smile and whimsical attitude and jamesreindeer with his frankly scary tones and spooky voice came together to explore the myriad wordplay their combined efforts might create. their debut collaborative effort rough tongue surfaces stands as testament to their undeniable chemistry on any given track. their wide range of influences and collaborative works enable them to explore almost any given aspect of their chosen musical genre and how, onstage, they fully explore the possibilities of creating live extravaganzas therein. here’s to the two james’ and their wonderfully eccentric and dumbfounding ways... get your beak on!!!
